Alba Bouwer's stories about a little girl's childhood on the Free State farm of Rivierplaas have reached classic status in Afrikaans literature. Central to the stories are ou-Melitie, the domestic worker and her two children, Sanna and klein-Melitie. Ou-Melitie listens patiently as tomboy Alie recounts her adventures and mischief and then replies with much wisdom and compassion – but doesn't hesitate to put the worldly-wise Alie in her place every once in a while!

This omnibus contains three stories. It is a new edition of the Alba Bouwer-omnibus of 1995, but completely redesigned and with a new cover.
